D.A. I'll make a post with my input on on APRS here and the other board. Thank you! I saw your other post over at 4wdtrips.net. There are several here that are also on that board. I think you'll find the two boards very entertaining. By the way, I was born in Victorville, raised in eastern Apple Va...

Welcome, Festus! Your APRS ability caught my eye. Over at 4wdtrips.com a new thread appeared yesterday discussing web tracking ability with some ideas tossed out, including APRS. I bet your input would be welcome with your experience in remote locations using this. I bet it would be of interest here...

LarryW has been occasionally watching the goings on here and saw that his old post was dug up by me. We've shared a couple of emails back and forth and he says to tell his old friends here "HOWDY!"

Checking old, unanswered posts. Came across this 2005 post from the once prolific LarryW. Wonder what he's up to these days?

I got a surprise phone call from him sometime in 2007 (or was it 2006). He was asking a favor. He needed a phone number. That was the last time I heard from him.

I have an old Willys pick up that I use in the back country. Yup! I can vouch for Unclebarry's use of his Willy's off road. http://www.gbr.4wdtrips.net/share/2008-09-02/swansea60a.jpg Here's Barry slithering and sliding down the very steep and decomposed slate slope into Boiler Canyon atop the Inyo...

I bet Graham C., my buddy from Australia, would love to accompany you, as he mentioned to me that my trip to Jarbidge this past summer "got his juices flowing" to head back up there again (Graham and I went in 2001). Graham joined this forum the other day, he's Coopcoyote. Just after I wr...

... but I'd really enjoy your company up that way. [Jarbidge] I'm sorry, but my vacation next year is already set and doesn't include Jarbidge. My wife got her pick this year. … the authenticity of Outback Steakhouse ends right after the Fosters on the menu. … not been too impressed. … better grub in OZ itself. … I am guessing that Outback is the US interpretation of OZ food, but they've missed the mark. Kind of figured that. Ah, America's penchant for canned ambience, a...

Okay, what's a Winnemucca and can you get shots for it? A Nevada small city named for an Indian the whites called "One moccosin." Walking around the Great Basin with one shoe missing might have required a tetinus shot, but I don't think they were available in 1868 ... If Winnemucca ...

I meant to say there's a touristy/functioning mine in the city of Bendigo by that name and that the city reeks of old gold money! Nice buildings and "feel". We have "ghost towns" like that also here in the States. Virginia City, Nevada; Deadwood, South Dakota and the like. They ...
